Senior Python Backend Engineer

Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Python Backend Engineer to join our dynamic technology team at ENGBim. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and integrating AI-powered features—including conversational chatbots and intelligent insight engines—into our industry-leading BIM (Building Information Modeling) and VDC software platforms.

You will collaborate closely with product managers, software developers, and domain specialists to translate business challenges into high-impact AI solutions. The ideal candidate brings a deep background in Python backend engineering, strong API architecture experience (FastAPI), and proven expertise in building or integrating LLM frameworks to streamline complex workflows and enhance user experiences.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable, high-performance backend services and REST APIs (using FastAPI) to power AI functionality.
• Develop, integrate, and optimize conversational AI and chatbot solutions to improve user interaction and automate complex support workflows.
• Architect and maintain a Python-based AI infrastructure stack, ensuring high code quality, system stability, and enterprise scalability.
• Build, test, and deploy microservices into production using containerization (Docker) and orchestration tools (Kubernetes).
• Integrate advanced LLM frameworks (such as LangChain, Hugging Face, or OpenAI APIs) to process complex AEC/BIM datasets, 3D models, and project documentation.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to define technical specifications, review architectural trade-offs, and establish backend development best practices.
• Maintain, leverage, and enhance CI/CD pipelines to ensure seamless, reliable software deployments.
• Research and evaluate the latest advancements in Generative AI, machine learning, and automation to continuously elevate platform capabilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of professional experience in backend software development with a primary focus on Python.
• Extensive experience building scalable web services and APIs using modern frameworks (e.g., FastAPI, Flask, or Django).
• Demonstrable hands-on experience integrating AI APIs and building or customizing chatbot and conversational interfaces.
• Proven experience working with advanced LLM frameworks and ecosystems (LangChain, Hugging Face, LlamaIndex, or equivalent).
• Solid experience with containerization (Docker) and Kubernetes orchestration environments.
• Proficiency in working with large-scale data storage and processing technologies (SQL, NoSQL, data lakes).
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with a track record of translating complex requirements into robust code.
• Excellent verbal and written technical communication skills in English.

Nice to Have

• Hands-on proficiency with cloud platforms and their AI/ML services, particularly AWS (Bedrock, SageMaker, Lambda, ECS).
• Practical experience building and consuming CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Azure DevOps, AWS CodePipeline, GitHub Actions).
• Familiarity with broader AI/ML libraries (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn).
• Experience or background in BIM software, data formats (e.g., IFC, Revit files), or the AEC (Architecture, Engineering, Construction) industry.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
