SDET
Stack
Summary
We are seeking a highly advanced senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to own release quality for a healthcare data exchange platform. You will take full ownership of a large legacy release regression suite, make it reliable, and lead the use of agentic, AI-driven test development and execution at scale across microservices and UI.
This role works independently with minimal direction, takes end-to-end ownership of outcomes, and communicates status and risk clearly and reliably. It is a chance to set a visible standard for the value an SDET can deliver in an AI-enabled engineering model, while contributing to the modernization of a Quality Center of Excellence (CoE).
Core responsibilities
- Design and implement automated UI test suites in C# using Selenium, Playwright or Cypress.
- Develop and maintain API test automation for REST and GraphQL endpoints, using Postman and code-based frameworks.
- Design, run and analyze performance and load tests for microservices using JMeter, Locust or k6, including agent-assisted test generation and execution.
- Build and evolve BDD and TDD frameworks (SpecFlow/Reqnroll, Cucumber-style patterns).
- Use GitHub Copilot and agentic AI tools to accelerate test creation, maintenance and failure triage, and to generate realistic test data.
- Design test cases, validation checks and test data pipelines for reliable, repeatable runs.
- Apply risk-based testing and manage defects through the full lifecycle.
- Validate secure API behavior and authentication flows consistent with healthcare requirements.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and keep release gates trustworthy.
- Work independently with remote engineering, product and QA teams, communicating status, risks and blockers proactively.
- Mentor engineers on testing principles and agentic testing practices, and drive continuous improvement.
Requirements
- 6+ years in test automation or SDET roles, with a track record of owning large automation suites end to end.
- Proven experience owning a large release regression suite (ideally for a data exchange or integration domain) and being accountable for release readiness.
- Expert troubleshooting skills, with a track record of diagnosing and fixing flaky tests in large, legacy suites to improve reliability and reduce manual intervention during releases.
- Proven, hands-on experience with agentic test development and execution at scale, including performance tests for microservices: using AI agents and tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code or similar) to generate, run, triage and maintain tests, with measurable results.
- Experience building new automated UI test coverage for complex data or ETL applications (e.g., the DataRiverETL UI in Purple Platform).
- Strong C# and .NET skills, including upgrading test projects across .NET Framework versions or migrating them to modern .NET.
- Experience contributing to Quality CoE modernization or innovation efforts, such as new tooling, practices and AI-enabled workflows.
- Deep, practical experience with Selenium, Playwright or Cypress for UI automation.
- Hands-on experience testing REST and GraphQL APIs, including Postman.
- Experience designing and running performance and load tests with JMeter, Locust or k6.
- Solid SQL skills with Oracle and PostgreSQL.
- Experience applying BDD and TDD with SpecFlow/Reqnroll or Cucumber-style workflows.
- Deep understanding of testing methodologies: test case design, defect tracking and risk-based testing, to ensure high coverage and reliability.
- Works independently, takes ownership without close supervision, and communicates reliably with remote, cross-functional teams.
Nice to have
- Experience with multi-agent frameworks such as Microsoft AutoGen or Semantic Kernel.
- Experience with Azure and Azure DevOps, including Azure Database for PostgreSQL.
- Understanding of HIPAA compliance considerations when testing healthcare data.
- Familiarity with healthcare data exchange standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR).
- Experience with OAuth2 or OpenID Connect for secure API testing.
